You've trained a little
A few months in, or coming back after time off. Both are easy to place.
Where you'd fit
- Straight into the regular class. There's no separate beginner room to graduate out of.
- We'll ask what you've covered so far and keep an eye on you for the first few weeks.
- Your rank from another academy is respected. We're not going to make you re-earn a belt you've already got.
What's probably different here
- The curriculum is structured. Every week has a topic, and the topics build. If you've only trained at places where the instructor picks a move that day, this will feel like a different sport.
- You can see what's coming. Each week's lesson is written down, so nothing is a mystery.
- Your attendance is tracked. You'll know exactly how many classes you've made, and so will we.
If you're coming back after time off
Expect two or three weeks of feeling terrible, then most of it returns. Almost everybody underestimates how much their body remembers. Tell us how long you've been out and we'll pace your rounds.
If you stopped because of an injury
Tell us what it was. Training around an old shoulder or a bad knee is completely normal here and we'll set you up with partners who'll respect it.
