A Vision Born from Passion and Insight
Next Generation Martial Arts was originally conceptualized as Enigma Jiu Jitsu by Scotty Smith Jr., reflecting the intricate and challenging nature of martial arts. However, a pivotal conversation in 2015 with his son Ty would shape the future of the Thibodaux academy. While exploring the streets of Thibodaux, Scotty engaged his 9-year-old son in a brainstorming session for the academy’s name. Ty’s insightful suggestion, “Next Generation,” marked a defining moment. It was then realized that the academy was destined to not only influence the present but also to shape the future of martial arts in Thibodaux.
In Thibodaux, Next Generation Martial Arts has grown to be more than just a training facility; it has become a cornerstone of personal development and community engagement. Since opening its doors, the academy has been committed to fostering an environment where every member of the Thibodaux community can thrive, not just in martial arts but in life.

The academy teaches a simple formula: “challenge the mind to challenge the body to challenge the mind.” This reciprocal formula is something students of all ages learn over time. All program curriculums at the academy, including Pre-K Martial Arts, Youth Martial Arts, Pre-Teen Martial Arts, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, are designed to meet specific mental and physical challenges of each age group, allowing the development of leaders for the next generation.
