3 Powerful Highlights at CWC 37 from Next Generation Martial Arts Thibodaux
Weekend Highlights from Next Generation Martial Arts Thibodaux
This past weekend was full of grit, growth, and unforgettable performances from our team at Next Generation Martial Arts Thibodaux.

Jack Shows Bright Spirit and Sportsmanship

Jack’s grappling match was a bright example of what martial arts can instill in young competitors. Jack put on a dominant performance—showing sharp wrestling, tight top control, and unwavering composure. But what stood out even more was his character. During the match, Jack paused to check on his opponent, Morgan Franklin of Empire MMA, concerned he might be in a bad position. “Are you okay, man?” he asked. Morgan replied, “Yes, thanks!”—and the match continued with intensity and mutual respect. Jack’s control and awareness never faltered, and Morgan’s guard retention and toughness earned plenty of praise. Their sportsmanship was as impressive as their technique—a reflection of the future we’re building here at Next Generation Martial Arts Thibodaux.

Ty and Corbin Deliver High-Energy Tag Team Victory

Ty and Corbin, our reigning CWC Tag Team Grappling Champions, brought pure energy to the mats. From the moment they stepped into the spotlight, the crowd was all in. Two slick submissions, explosive transitions, and undeniable synergy—it was a showcase of high-level teamwork and trust. These two continue to cement their status as fan favorites. Huge props to Beau Courville and Ricky Webb of Empire MMA for stepping up for their first tag match. Despite giving up size, they fought hard and entertained with heart. The crowd loved it—and so did we.

Paul Hingle IV Brings the Hype and Heart in MMA Clash

Paul Hingle IV entered the cage Saturday night for what was billed as his toughest test yet—a battle against undefeated standout Daniel Angelle of Flash MMA. And from the opening bell, Paul brought the heat. He pushed the pace, landed clean shots, and forced wild scrambles that had the crowd on their feet. It felt like a Fight of the Night—until an unexpected turn.

At 1:45 in the first round, Angelle—using a common hand-fighting tactic with open fingers—accidentally poked Paul in the eye while controlling range. Paul turned away immediately, and the referee stopped the action. The doctor was called in, and Paul, despite saying he couldn’t see clearly, insisted on continuing. With 1:15 left in the round, the fight resumed.

Paul came out firing—refusing to give ground and pressing Angelle all the way to the bell. But between rounds, Mr. Ricky Norris of the Louisiana Boxing Commission stepped in and made the call: if Paul couldn’t see, he couldn’t fight. The bout was ruled a TKO loss due to injury. Given the clear video footage confirming the accidental eye poke, the outcome may be reconsidered as a no contest.

To Angelle and Flash MMA’s credit, they’ve already agreed to a rematch—one that promises to be electric. Paul’s will, his toughness, and his relentless drive haven’t gone unnoticed. This chapter may have ended early—but believe us, the next one is already being written.
