Closed Guard — Traditional Closed Guard

Sweeps · Submissions · Positional Control

What To Think About This Week

The Lesson

This week has nine techniques on it. That is a lot of material for one week. Do not try to master all nine. Instead, find one that speaks to you and spend the majority of your time there. Let the others exist as context — you know they are available, you know where they come from, and you will return to them.

The most important thing this week is developing the feeling of calm control from closed guard. Every technique on this page works better when you are relaxed. Tension is your enemy here. Feel the position. Trust it. The attacks will come.
