Mount Bottom — Back Door Escape

Back Door Escape

What To Think About This Week

The Lesson

Before you move, ask yourself: can I control an arm? If not — find their hips. That horizontal frame across the waistline is your starting point. If you can't get the frame in place, nothing else works.

Once the frame is set, feel for the wedge. Your elbow needs to be inside the knee — not near it, not touching it, but actually in between their knee and your ribs. That wedge is what makes the bridge do something.

Bridge to your side — not straight up. Turn into the back leg, escape into it, and fill the space with your knee. Half guard or butterfly is where you land. That's not the goal — it's a checkpoint. Keep moving toward top.

Class Rolling & Takedown Rules

How We Roll

White vs White
Flow training by default unless the instructor specifies otherwise. Build movement and good habits before competition pressure.
Upper vs Lower
Lower ranking student picks their top position. Blue through black vs white, or blue vs black — the lower rank decides where to start.
Purple / Brown / Black
Neutral start or request a specific position you want to work on. Self-directed development at this level.
Takedown Rounds
Same rules apply. White vs white — controlled and flowing. Upper vs lower — lower rank picks entry or tie-up. Purple / brown / black — neutral or requested start.
