Half Guard Bottom — Knee Shield: Omoplata, Kimura & Tilt Sweep

Knee Shield Attacks — Omoplata, Kimura & Tilt Sweep

What To Think About This Week

The Lesson

This week comes down to one thing: watch the underhooking arm.

From the knee shield, your job is to stay patient and pay close attention to what that arm is doing. In a lot of cases, you won't have to create the opportunity — they'll give it to you. When their elbow comes out of position, you have a choice: take their back or hit the tilt sweep. Both become available from the same mistake.

Use your knee shield to maintain control and create the space to be patient. The knee shield is what buys you the time to read that arm. When it's in position, wait. When it's out of position, it's your gain.

The more you train this awareness, the simpler half guard starts to feel. You're not hunting for specific techniques — you're watching one arm and following what it gives you.

How We Roll

White vs White
Flow training by default unless the instructor specifies otherwise. Build movement and good habits before competition pressure.
Upper vs Lower
Lower ranking student picks their top position. Blue through black vs white, or blue vs black — the lower rank decides where to start.
Purple / Brown / Black
Neutral start or request a specific position you want to work on. Self-directed development at this level.
Takedown Rounds
Same rules apply. White vs white — controlled and flowing. Upper vs lower — lower rank picks entry or tie-up. Purple / brown / black — neutral or requested start.
