Posture first · Centered base · Low Level Guard Break
Everything in closed guard top starts with one thing: keep your head up. Not because it looks good — because the moment your head drops, your posture breaks, and once your posture breaks, everything the bottom player wants to do becomes easier.
Pick a point on the wall and keep your eyes there. You don't need to look down to know what's happening — you need to feel it. Your hands float between their arms and the bottom of their ribs. Your butt sits on top of your feet, your knees and hips form a triangle, and your weight settles into the center of that triangle. From there you can shift forward toward your knees, back toward your hips, or side to side without falling over.
This week, before you think about breaking the guard, think about building that platform. A strong enough posture can force the guard open on its own. The Low Level Break is the tool — but your base is what makes it work.
