Mount Bottom — Hands on Hips Bridge Escape

Read the moment · Set the hands · Circle the feet · Bridge high · Lock out · Run the knees

What To Think About This Week

The Lesson

Before you move — are their hands free or committed to a grip? If not, wait. This escape only works in that window. Trying it at the wrong time telegraphs everything.

When the moment comes: one foot, then the second, then go. Don't circle both at once. Once the second foot lands, bridge immediately — hips straight up as high as you can. At the top, lock the arms out. Don't press. If you're trying to muscle them off, the timing was wrong.

Floating hips mean you're there — run the knees through, get the attachment, and sit up. Guard is your next decision, not your destination.

Class Rolling & Takedown Rules

How We Roll

White vs White
Flow training by default unless the instructor specifies otherwise. Build movement and good habits before competition pressure.
Upper vs Lower
Lower ranking student picks their top position. Blue through black vs white, or blue vs black — the lower rank decides where to start.
Purple / Brown / Black
Neutral start or request a specific position you want to work on. Self-directed development at this level.
Takedown Rounds
Same rules apply. White vs white — controlled and flowing. Upper vs lower — lower rank picks entry or tie-up. Purple / brown / black — neutral or requested start.
