Turtle Top — Sprawl Attacks

Sprawl Attacks

What To Think About This Week

The Lesson

The Guillotine, Anaconda, and Darce aren't three separate attacks — they're one system. The entry point shifts based on where your arm ends up when you sprawl, but the threat is the same: a head and arm trapped with no way out.

What makes this trio especially powerful is what it does to the bottom player's hands. To defend any of these chokes, they have to hand fight. And two hands fighting your choking arm means two hands that aren't posting, framing, or helping them escape the turtle. They can't stop the choke and stop you from circling to the back at the same time.

Beyond that — all three give you a real opportunity to put the person on their back. We look to finish all three from mount. The choke creates the roll, the roll creates the mount, and the mount is where you finish. That chain is the goal every time.

How We Roll

White vs White
Flow training by default unless the instructor specifies otherwise. Build movement and good habits before competition pressure.
Upper vs Lower
Lower ranking student picks their top position. Blue through black vs white, or blue vs black — the lower rank decides where to start.
Purple / Brown / Black
Neutral start or request a specific position you want to work on. Self-directed development at this level.
Takedown Rounds
Same rules apply. White vs white — controlled and flowing. Upper vs lower — lower rank picks entry or tie-up. Purple / brown / black — neutral or requested start.
